QUALIFICATIONS

  • Architecture or Landscape Architecture graduate with a professional degree in Architecture, or a closely related field. Accredited NAAB or LAAB program preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years* of professional experience in Architecture
  • Can work efficiently and effectively, and able to provide moderate training/support to less experienced employees in the following: Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, Bluebeam, MS Office (AutoCAD experience preferred but not required)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Designer IIs take on increasingly complex tasks. They demonstrate intermediate to advanced understanding of NSPJ best practices and standards. As part of our NSPJ Spark program, they will help guide our Interns and Designer Is. They are an integral part of our project teams, working with increasing efficiency and deepening their architectural and technical knowledge. They are expected to utilize their qualifications and advanced knowledge when exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of the following primary duties:

  • Develop Architectural plans, elevations, sections, & details to successful completion with moderate guidance:
    • Interpret & develop preliminary design & concepts
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of, and ability to analyze and interpret codes, standards, construction and structure; Perform or coordinate code review and documentation under moderateguidance
    • Perform construction phase service tasks with moderate supervision from a Project Lead or Project Manager
    • Revit drafting (AutoCAD as needed); Prepare 3D visualizations, renderings and presentation materials
    • Performs initial QC check on own work; analyze, interpret and implement all redlines thoroughly (models, drawings, documents); as needed, redline work for Interns and Designer Is
  • Provide additional support for project progress as needed:
    • Delivery of city forms, material gathering / material sample boards, scanning documents, transmittals, taking meeting notes, print/collate drawing sets, etc.As-Built measuring and photos on the jobsite

ESSENTIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Daily attendance for a typical workday and accurate recording of time
  • Essential for the effective performance in this role and the successful operation of the firm’s business, the individual must be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and constructively in English with NSPJ employees, consultants, and clients in order to convey and understand details relating to projects and other business-related items. 
  • Able to work cooperatively with co-workers and teams through all stages of design and construction
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet project deadlines
  • Knowledge and daily use of computers and the computer programs used in the office for job description
  • Ability to work at a desk throughout the workday; adjustable (sit or stand) desks are standard
  • Must be able to see, interpret, and analyze data in color on computer screens/programs and paper
  • Performs effectively under conditions of occasional high stress and pressure

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess/own a smartphone in order to complete two-factor authentication required for some websites, programs
